One thing that you can’t forget experiencing while you are in Cairns is cruising to the Outer Great Barrier Reef. There are millions of different coloured fish and other marine life that will astound you and your trigger finger will get sore from taking so many photo’s.
There are four different kinds of reef cruises that you can choose from, and it all depends on who you are as to which variation is going to suit you. As I have done most of the reef tours from Cairns, I have selected the Great Barrier Reef daytrips that I thought were [the best|among the best|great] and then placed them in to two different categories.
These trips are excellent value for money and are principally for the young. However, if you are adventurous in mind, you will totally like these cruises.
If you’re looking for a boat cruise that’s a lot of fun, in addition to great snorkelling and diving, then you’re sorted!
Noah’s Ark was one of the first ‘budget’ reef tour companies to operate day cruises out to the Great Barrier Reef from Cairns . You will not find any cheaper than ‘Noah’s’ and it is very good value for money.
Noah’s Ark visits Michaelmas Cay, as well as Thetford Reef, and you can look forward to having about three hours swimming time in total. The staff are highly trained, and will help you out when it comes time to do some boom netting (for those unfamiliar with the term ‘boom netting’, this involves a large net being towed behind a slow moving vessel, and you hopping in and holding on to it, as well as holding on to your bathers!).
It’s certainly not the most specatcular boat in the world, but half the fun is getting there and you’ll enjoy Noahs Ark if what you want is a nice ‘cruisy’ day.
